Sorry About Computers

The internet is a generation-defining technology that enables unprecedented global communication, exploration and artistic expression. That said, speaking on behalf of all software engineers, I must appologize: all this stuff we've built also kinda sucks. It crashes, hardware fails, and the internet is just not a safe place. There are fake download buttons, misleading terms of service, and creepy personalized ads constantly flashing in your face.

These technologies are as soundly engineered as ever but still require expert knowledge to use safely. Malicious actors exist because they are effective and the internet is full of people you shouldn't trust. Even small mistakes can have serious consequences.

This blog will cover the basics of computing all the way down to first principles. The goal is to help you navigate the internet safely and get the most out of your computer.
